Lauren Boatman

Lauren Boatman was named head coach of the Briar Cliff women’s volleyball program ahead of the 2025 season.

Boatman comes to the Cliff after five successful seasons as the head coach at her alma mater, Bishop Heelan Catholic School in Sioux City. She guided the Crusaders to the 2024 Iowa Class 4A State Championship, finishing the season with an impressive 44-3 record. For her efforts Boatman was name the Class 4A Coach of the Year. She was also honored as the CYO Volleyball Coach of the year in 2021.

A Sioux City native, Boatman had a decorated playing career at the University of Iowa, where she was a four-year letter winner for the Hawkeyes. She tallied 1,087 kills, ranking 15th on Iowa’s all-time list, appeared in 125 matches and 104 starts. Boatman led the Hawkeyes in kills in each of her final three seasons in Iowa City.

Boatman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in sports studies from the University of Iowa. She also has strong family ties to Briar Cliff – her mother, Deborah, was a two-sport athlete for the Chargers in both volleyball and basketball.
