Lorraine Fenton joined the Briar Cliff track and field coaching staff in August 2023 after an incredibly decorated track and field career. 

Her career highlight was at the 2000 Olympics when she won a silver medal in the 400-meter race. She became the first Jamaican woman to win a medal in the 400.She won silver medals at the 2001 and 2003 World Champions, a bronze medal at the 1999 World Championships. In 2002, Fenton set a Jamaican record in the 400-meter with a time of 49.30 seconds.

Fenton is a graduate of Lincoln University of Missouri. During her time there she was a six-time NCAA Division II National Champion. Fenton still holds the fastest time in DII women's indoor track and field with a time of 52.22 seconds in the indoor 400 in 1997. Fenton, who is also a member of the fastest indoor 4x400m relay team in DII history (3:39.24, 1997), led Lincoln to a third place finish at the 1997 Outdoor National Championships. Fenton won National Titles in the indoor 400m in 1996 and 1997, the outdoor 200m in 1996, the outdoor 400m in 1997, and as a member of Lincoln's 4x400m relay team in both 1996 and 1997. Fenton's time of 51.04 in the outdoor 400m ranks second all-time, and she also owns the fifth and 10th-quickest times ever recorded in that event. Fenton holds NCAA Division II Indoor Championship meet records in the 400m and 4x400m relay, and her time of 23.03 in the outdoor 200m ranks 10th all-time.

Lorraine moved to Sioux City in 2022 with her husband and son.
