Josh Wheeler

    Pitching Coach

This will be Josh Wheeler's 7th season as the Chargers Pitching Coach. Wheeler is a 2001 graduate of Morningside College, where he was a two-time, first-team, All-North Central Conference and 2001 ABCA All-Central Region pitcher. He posted a career record of 10-7 with a 3.58 ERA, 97 strikeouts and 16 saves. As a senior, he recorded nine saves, setting a school record. Wheeler began his collegiate career at Westmar, transferring when the school closed its doors. Wheeler was a four-time baseball letter winner for the Wolverines of West High School in Sioux City. He is a Physical Education teacher in the Sioux City School District.

 

 


Wheeler's Charger Pitching Staff:

In 2017  two honorable mention all-conference selections in Andrew Stover and Nicholas Cole.
              Stover’s 6 wins put him tied 6 overall in the GPAC and he was named the league’s    
              Gold Glove Award winner. Cole’s 8 Saves put him as the Conference leader in that
              category, tied with just one other pitcher.

In 2008 produced one GPAC second team all-conference pitcher in Charlie Benz.
In 2007 two GPAC second team all-conference pitchers in Jared Jacobs and Ryan Gorsett, and three GPAC honorable mention all-conference selections in Stephen Keane, Trent Schneider, and Andrew English.
In 2006 one GPAC honorable mention all-conference selection in Charlie Benz.
In 2005 one GPAC second team all-conference pitcher in Tony McFarland, and one GPAC honorable mention all-conference selection in Jared Jacobs, as well as helping the Chargers make the 2005 NAIA World Series.
