The Briar Cliff women's soccer team battled Hastings College on Saturday at Faber Field, falling 1-0 in a tightly contested match-up.
After a scoreless opening half, Hastings broke through in the 63rd minute when Madie Miles found the back of the net off an assist from Madison Rhodes.
The Chargers continued to battle throughout the remainder of the match, creating several opportunities to equalize. Briar Cliff finished with 12 shots, putting five on frame, while Hastings recorded 20 shots with 12 on target.
Caitlin Anderholm turned in a strong performance in goal, making 10 saves to keep the Chargers within striking distance throughout the match.
Ondine Manceau and
Abby Derbyshire each recorded two shots, while
Angelina Saade and
Ellen Lofsjogard each added three shots.
The Chargers move to 4-2 on the season and 0-1 in GPAC play.
Briar Cliff returns to action Wednesday, September 23, hosting Morningside University. Kick-off is set for 1:00 pm.
