The Charger wrestling team returned to action Friday, competing in the Missouri Valley Invite in Marshall, Missouri.

In the 133-pound bracket,
Dante Rigal had a strong showing, going 3-1 on day one. He defeated Derrique Mytial of Keiser University by pin before defeating Ikuhaiakalani Akina of Waldorf by pin the following match. He earned a major decision victory over Central Methodist's Gavin Alexander in his next match. Rigal would drop a close 2-6 decision to Paul Ruff of Concordia to conclude day one.

Jarrod Gilliam at 133 defeated Troy Kennedy of Campbellsville by a 14-5 decision followed by a 13-9 decision over Lane Scorpil of William Penn. He later fell to Luke Rioux of Indiana Tech to move to the consolation bracket.

Jackson Balmer in the 165-pound bracket defeated Sam Duling of Friends University and Levi Collins of Campbellsville by pin to begin his tournament run. He fell to Jeff Dunasky of Marian University in a close 10-11 decision and to Benjamin Mitchell by pin to round out the day.Â

Ethan Gregg at 174 when 2-1 on the day, earning a 12-4 major decision victory over Giulio Traglia of Friends University and a 11-0 major decision victory over Georgetown's (KY) Matthew cael Green. He would drop his next to bouts by major decision to bow out of the tournament.

Jeremiah Bethel at 184 won his first match of the day with a 7-4 decision over Joseph Monge of Morningside. He fell to Barret Brandt of Concordia the next match to move to the consolation bracket. He dropped his next match against Jack Simons of Dickinson State.
Rigal and Gilliam will return to action tomorrow for day two of the Missouri Valley Invite.
