The Briar Cliff women's volleyball team bounced back into GPAC play Wednesday night, taking down Waldorf in four sets (15-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20) on the road.
After a slow start in the opening frame, the Chargers found their rhythm in the second. A late push led by kills from
Aliyah Basham and
Brooklyn Voss evened out the match at one set apiece.
From there, Briar Cliff carried the momentum, pulling away in both the third and fourth sets to secure the victory.
Basham powered the Charger offense with 15 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while
Emma Brenelli added 12, and
Isabelle Lenz chipped in 9.Â
The setting duo of
Kylie Hart and
Iwalani Beltran kept a balanced attack, dishing out 20 assists apiece. Beltran also added two service aces while Hart added one of her own.Â
Defensively,
Avery Beller led the back line with 23 digs, while
Addy Pigott added 10. At the net,
Caton Firkins and
Aubrey Hoeft combined for a total of 15 block assists on the night.Â
As a team, Briar Cliff recorded 7 service aces and 24 block assists in the win.Â
The Chargers improve to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in GPAC play. They will return to action this Saturday, traveling to Mitchell, SD, to take on Dakota Wesleyan. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
