The Charger men's basketball team earned a 88-76 victory over the Doane Tigers on senior day inside the Newman Flanagan Center Saturday afternoon. The Charger men's basketball team honored seven seniors prior to the contest.

"I think it's very special to get a win on senior day and I was thrilled for our seven seniors and two student coaches who have given a lot and meant a lot to our program got that win on senior day," said Head Coach
Mark Svagera. "I liked the way our guys executed our offensive game plan, I thought we played a complete game offensively."

Briar Cliff built a strong lead in the first half, capitalizing against the Tigers zone defense by going seven-for-12 from three-point land.
Jamison Helmers paved the way with 23 points and shot five-for-10 from long range in the contest.

Jaxson Wingert added 20 points on an efficient six-for-eight shooting and went eight-for-nine from the charity stripe.

The Chargers built a lead in the first half, leading the Tigers 50-37 heading into the break. Briar Cliff shot 56.5% from the field and were effective at their chances at the free-throw line, converting on 27 of their 30 attempts.

Colby Collison got the start in today's contest and went three-for-four from three-point land in the matchup.

Matthew Stilwill posted a double-double with 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the contest.

Nick Schefers played quality minutes for The Cliff.

"We needed guys to step up and I thought
Nick Schefers off the bench was that X-factor for us today." said Svagera.

The Chargers improved to improve to 13-11 (8-8 GPAC), and will hit the road next Wednesday, as they travel to Forest City, Iowa to take on the Waldorf Warriors. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
