The eighth-ranked Briar Cliff women's basketball team controlled the game from start to finish Saturday afternoon, earning an 89-76 victory over the RV Hasting Broncos at home.

After a tight opening quarter, the Chargers found their rhythm in the second period, outscoring the Broncos 23-14 to take a 42-31 lead into halftime. Briar Cliff continued to apply pressure in the third quarter, shooting over 50 percent from the field and pushing the margin to double digits before closing out the win.

Abby Lee led all scorers with a dominant 31-point performance, shooting 12-of-19 from the floor while adding nine rebounds.
Mallie McNair followed with 19 points, knocking down three triples and dishing out five assists.
Kenna Mongan provided a spark from the perimeter, finishing with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.Â

Taylor Sodeman finished with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for BCU.
Brooklyn Heineman filled the stat sheet with nine points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.

As a team, the Chargers shot 45.2 percent from the field and an efficient 42.9 percent from the three-point line, while outrebounding Hastings 46-29.

With the win, Briar Cliff moves to 11-3 overall and 5-3 GPAC. They return to action Saturday, December 27, at 2:00 p.m., traveling to Omaha, NE, taking on the University of Nebraska-Omaha
