Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

HOT SHOOTING LEADS CHARGERS PAST BRONCOS

The Cliff used a dominant second half and efficient shooting from beyond the arc to pull away from Hastings for a 90-75 victory Saturday afternoon inside the Newman Flanagan Center. The Chargers converted on 54% of their attempts from the field and went 14-for-26 from downtown.

"Much needed bounce back win tonight, I thought we got back to sharing the ball and doing what we do at a higher level," said Head Coach Mark Svagera. I thought the last few games, teams got us a little out of sync and we got away from being who we are as a team and that was the big difference tonight, specifically offensively."

The Chargers led 39-37 at halftime before erupting for 51 points after the break, knocking down 14 3-pointers overall and shooting 58.8% from the field. Briar Cliff also outscored Hastings 26-14 in bench points and turned 11 Broncos turnovers into 15 points.

Colby Collison led Briar Cliff with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including four 3-pointers. Dawson Mohr added 16 points and shot four-for-seven from three, while Ryan Kleppe scored 15 on a perfect 5-for-5 effort from the floor. Blake Sindelar chipped in 14 points and a team-high seven assists as the Chargers finished with 18 assists on 30 made baskets.

Jaxson Wingert finished with 12 points while going four-for-seven from the field with four rebounds and four assists. Joshua Stevenson finished with 10 points and shot 50% from the floor and knocked down a pair of threes.

"I thought Stevenson and Mohr gave us a massive boost coming off the bench in the first half," said Svagera. "Between Sindelar, Lugar, and Wingert combining for 16 assists, when that's happening that means were moving the ball and getting good shots. Really happy and proud of the guys, they were able stick together through a tough week and bounce back, now its time to get ready for a good Graceland team and get ready for Monday."

The Chargers improve to 7-5 (4-3 GPAC) and will host Graceland University this upcoming Monday inside the Newman Flanagan Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
