CHARGERS RALLY PAST MIDLAND IN SECOND-HALF COMEBACK VICTORY

The Briar Cliff men's soccer team rallied for a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Midland Saturday night in Fremont, Nebraska, in the first round of the GPAC Tournament.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, the Chargers stormed back with three unanswered goals in the second to secure the road victory.

David Sauter sparked the rally in the 49th minute, finding the back of the net off a pass from David Utsi-Grinde to cut the deficit in half. Just three minutes later, Utsi-Grinde struck himself with an unassisted goal to level the match at 2-2. The momentum stayed with the Cliff as Alejandro Illan netted the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute to give BCU the 3-2 advantage.

Goalkeeper Xabier Ilundain had a standout performance, recording 10 saves.

The Chargers outshot Midland 21-14, including a 9-7 edge in shots on goal.

Briar Cliff returns to action Friday, November 7, heading to Seward, Nebraska, to face off against Concordia University for the GPAC Semifinals. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
