LUGAR'S CAREER HIGH GUIDE CHARGERS PAST BRONCOS

Wil Lugar dropped a career high 32 points to lead the Chargers to a 103-91 victory over the Hastings Broncos in Hastings, Nebraska Saturday afternoon. Lugar went 13-for-17 from the field and four-for-eight from downtown in the contest. Matthew Stilwill recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 assists.

"We won a shootout today! We played really well offensively today. I love the way we shared and moved the ball," said Head Coach Mark Svagera. "Wil Lugar was great today and I thought Matt Stilwill did a great job creating for others and facilitating our offense. It's hard to win GPAC road games and I'm proud of the way the guys finished this one out."

In the opening minutes, the Chargers jumped to a 8-2 lead with Jamison Helmers knocking down two threes along with a jumper from Blake Sindelar. Stilwill assisted on each of the Chargers first points.

Both squads traded baskets throughout the first half, with each team shooting over 60% from the field and over 50% from three. The Chargers were efficient on offense, shooting 69% from the field and went nine-for-14 from deep.

A three from Lugar off an assist from Stilwill gave the Chargers a 51-50 lead heading into the break. Lugar and Sindelar paced the Chargers with 15 a piece going into the break.

Both teams carried their strong offensive performances into the second half. Midway through the second, Colby Collison drilled a three-pointer that sparked a 8-0 run that gave BCU a 80-67 lead with 9:31 left to play.

Lugar continued his strong offensive output in the second half, scoring 17 points while shooting seven-for-nine from the field. Jaxson Wingert finished with 18 points and went five-for-nine from the field. Blake Sindelar scored 17 points and went a perfect three-for-three from long range followed by Helmer's 13 points.

The Charger offense shot 67% from the field and 58% from three in the contest. The Charger defense forced 10 turnovers and recorded six steals.

The Cliff improves to 9-7 (4-4 GPAC) and will return to action next Saturday, as they host the Bulldogs of Concordia inside the Newman Flanagan Center. Tip-off is slated for 3:45 p.m.
