The Charger men's soccer team dropped a close 2-1 contest against the 7
th ranked Bellevue Bruins Wednesday on Faber Field.

The Bruins looked to strike early after a creating a chance less than a minute into the contest. A shot from Matias Daniel-Doren was turned away from the Chargers keeper
Philip Haenel.

Bellevue broke the scoring tie in the 31
st minute, as Ombeni Mubake lofted one over Haenel to give the Bruins a 1-0 advantage.

In the 56
th minute of the second half, the Bruins notched another goal, as Daniel-Doren found the back of the net to but Bellevue up 2-0.

The Cliff in the 72
nd minute cut into the lead 2-1 after a goal from
Axel Bjerke. In the 82
nd minute, Briar Cliff was awarded a corner kick.
Gabriel Hernandez Les sent a high cross into the box, but
Edvard Orseth's header was too high.

The Chargers made a final run with a minute left, bringing the ball to the left corner of the attacking side. The Bruins defense was able to pressure the ball in the corner, to prevent BCU from sending a cross for the equalizer.

Haenel recorded three saves in the contest for the Chargers. Orseth led the Chargers with four shots in the contest. Bellevue held the advantage in corner kicks 6-4. The Cliff didn't receive their first corner kick until the second half.

The Chargers drop to 1-4 on the season and will look to bounce back against Governors State in a rematch of last season's NAIA National Tournament round one matchup. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m.
