SEWARD, Neb. – Graduate student Jamison Helmers, graduate student Matthew Stilwill and freshman Jaxson Wingert all scored at least 15 points as the Briar Cliff University men's basketball team (2-3 GPAC, 5-6) lost 87-74 to Concordia (Neb.) (RV) (2-3 GPAC, 5-3), Saturday afternoon at Friedrich Arena.

For the first nine minutes of the game, Briar Cliff and Concordia played on even terms. Stilwill scored off a nice pass from freshman Colby Collison.

That pulled the Chargers to two, 14-12 at the 10:37 mark. The Bulldogs went on a 20-2 run to effectively seal the game.

The Chargers pulled down 25 defensive rebounds to nine offensive boards for the Bulldogs. This is the 11^th game this season that BCU has had at least a 2-to-1 margin.

"I loved the fight we played with in the second half today. With how the game started it could've gotten ugly, but the guys battled and gave us some chances in the second half. As we push forward, we'll continue to strive for consistency and avoid putting ourselves in tough first half situations."

For Briar Cliff, Stilwill had 23 points, nine rebounds (eight defensive) and two steals, Helmers had 18 points with four triples and Wingert scored 15 points with nine rebounds.

For Concordia, Noah Schutte had 22 points and Bradley Bennett scored 19 points.

Briar Cliff returns to the friendly confines of the Newman Flangan Center, Wednesday, Dec. 11 taking on #17 Dordt. The game is scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m.
