Briar Cliff Among The Top Four

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Senior Helene Getz Bergmo is in the top five as the Briar Cliff University women's golf team finished Day 1 of the Mustang Derby. 

The tournament is being played at Whispering Creek Golf Course, a Par-72 with a total yardage of 5105 yards.

Morningside shot +21 (309) and leads by five strokes over Dakota Wesleyan.  Rounding out the top five are Jamestown (3rd - +38 / 326), Briar Cliff (4th - +46 / 334) and Mount Marty (5th - +48 / 336).

Individually, Kelsey Heath (Mount Marty), Allison Meyerink (Dakota Wesleyan) and Cameron Spellman (Morningside) all shot +2 (74) and lead by a stroke over Alysen Sander (Morningside).

Getz Bergmo is tied for fifth at +4 (76).  She leads the team with nine pars and four birdies.  Getz Bergmo leads the tournament in birdies, Par-4 scoring (3.88) and Par-5 scoring (4.80).

Senior Kelly Baade is tied for 25th at +13 (85).  She leads the team with nine pars.

Sophomore Olivia Sorlie is tied for 27th at +14 (86).  She has eight pars.  Sorlie is among the Top 10 in the tournament in Par-3 scoring (3.40).

Sophomore Emma Erickson is tied for 29th at +15 (87). 

Freshman Lucy Carter is tied for 3th at +18 (90).

Briar Cliff closes out the Mustang Derby, Tuesday, Oct. 8.
