CHARGER WOMEN CONCLUDE DAY ONE OF WILLIAM WOODS SPRING INVITATIONAL

The Briar Cliff women's golf team wrapped up round one of the William Woods Spring Invitational on Monday at the Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Missouri. The Charger women prep for round two in a tie for seventh-place.

"We survived the day", said head coach Ben Irlbeck. "There are 160 golfers playing the course, so it really made it a long day out there."

ROUND ONE
The Chargers concluded round one with a team score of 342 (+54) and currently reside in a tie for seventh-place.

Helene Getz Bergmo paced the Charger squad with a round-one score of 84 (+12). Bergmo is coming off her seventh top-10 finish at the Las Vegas Shootout in February and currently sits in a tie for 25th-place heading into the final round.

Frankie Valencia followed close behind as she returned to the clubhouse with a score of 86 (+14). At the Chargers' last meet, Valencia finished in a tie for 38th-place. She currently sits in a tie for 37th-place after round one.

Grace Johanson and Abbigale Miller matched Valencia with a pair of 86's (+14) in the opening round. Johanson is coming off a tie for 35th-place finish, while Miller ended her first tournament in a solo 46th place in Las Vegas. Both Johanson and Miller saw improvements from round one to round two in their last event and hope to carry that trend into tomorrow's round.

Kelly Baade was the fifth-best scorer for the Chargers in round one after carding the score of 91 (+19). Baade took a solo 41st-place finish at the Chargers' last meet in February and currently sits in a tie for 53th-place in Fulton, Missouri.

Avery Beller and Sophia Johnson rounded out the day one for the Chargers with the scores of 101 (+29) and 103 (+31), respectively. Beller and Johnson did not participate in the spring-opening tournament for the Chargers. Beller resides in a tie for 66th-place as Johnson rests in a tie for 71st-place after round one.

The Charger women return to action early Tuesday morning as they are scheduled for a 10 a.m shotgun start at the Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Missouri.
