The Charger men's basketball team won their road contest against Bethany 76-59, behind
Jamison Helmers career-high 30 points. Helmers went 10-for-14 from the field and 8-for-12 from beyond the arc in the win. "I thought we played a really good first half on both ends of the floor," said Head Coach
Mark Svagera. "In the end, we did a good job of responding to adversity and we made big plays down the stretch."

With the Cliff leading 6-4 in the first half, Briar Cliff knocked down four straight three-pointers to go on a 12-0 run and extend their lead to 14. Helmers knocked down two triples during the run with
Quinn Vesey and
Matthew Stilwill making one a piece. The Chargers led 41-24 heading into intermission behind Helmers' 21 points.

With 5:32 remaining in the contest, Bethany came within striking distance after James Carson's triple cut the Charger lead to 57-53. Baskets from
Wil Lugar and
Tyrus Eischeid brought the Charger lead back to eight with little under five minutes to go.

Stilwill scored a layup and knocked down two free throws to give the Chargers a 65-55 lead with 3:34 left on the clock. In the final minute, Stilwill converted on five of his last six free throw attempts, and the Chargers downed Bethany 76-59.

Stilwill scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds while dishing three assists.
Blake Sindelar chipped in 10 points along with three rebounds, a block, and a steal. The Chargers shot 46.4% from the field and scored 24 points in the paint.

The Chargers improve to 3-0 on the season and return to action Saturday night to take on Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, Kansas. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
