Andrew Buchanan struck early, as the Chargers took a 1-0 victory over Governors State to advance to the second round of the NAIA National tournament in Winona Lake, Indiana.

Buchanan found the back of the net in the eighth minute off an assist from Nicolas Karlsen, which was the deciding goal in the match.

Late in the first half, the Chargers look to extend their lead off a cross into the box. Buchanan leaped for a header, but was off by a small margin. The Jaguars looked for the equalizer, but the Chargers
Hjalmar Nilsson turned away a shot from Javier Losa. The Jaguars kept the pressure, receiving three corner kicks, but were unable to turn the opportunity in for a score.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Nilsson recorded back-to-back saves off a rebound attempt from the Jaguars. In the 73
rd minute,
Hugo Mariage's had a chance to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead late, but his shot went wide. With a minute remaining, the Jaguars looked for one last opportunity, but Raul Garcia's shot was offline.

The Jaguars spent majority of the match in the attacking side, recording 25 shots to the Chargers eight. Nilsson recorded eight saves in the match to record his seventh clean sheet of the season. Buchanan recorded three shots and two shots on goal. Skilling was the only other Charger to record a shot.

The Chargers advance to the second round and will take on #3 Grace, Saturday, in Winona Lake, Indiana. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
