The Chargers volleyball team fell to top-ranked Northwestern in straight sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-14) Tuesday evening in the Newman Flanagan Center. "I am proud of this teams efforts this season," said Head Coach
Lindsey Weatherford. "I am thankful for the leadership of the seniors and the effort everyone gave right down to the last point."

The Red Raiders in the first set led wire-to-wire after jumping out to a 15-6 lead. The Red Raiders closed out the set 25-12 followed by a kill from Logan Miller.

The Chargers took a 8-6 lead against the Red Raiders to begin set two. During the stretch,
Sami Wasmund tallied a kill and recorded two blocks alongside
Taylin Boettcher and
Taryn Nothem. Northwestern took a 21-16 lead, and outscored the Cliff 4-1 in the final stretch to take the set 25-17.

Toria Andre led the Chargers in kills with eight, followed by Wasmund's seven. Wasmund also recorded four blocks in the match.
Yenne Schepers led the team in assists with 13 followed by
Olivia Corey's 11.
Avery Beller recorded a team-high 13 digs.

Andre and Wasmund finished their careers with 373 total blocks, tied for seventh most in a career. Wasmund is tied for seventh with the most solo blocks in a career at 74. Andre moved to sixth after finishing her career with 78 solo blocks.

Toria Andre and
Sami Wasmund have developed into some of the top blockers in the GPAC and the history of our program," said Weatherford. "They have scored many defensive points for our team and I am very proud of their efforts day in and day out as they honed their blocking skills."
The Chargers conclude the 2023 season with a 7-23 (2-14 GPAC) record.
