The #21 Charger women's basketball team rolled to their 11th conference win as they defeated College of Saint Mary 73-55 Saturday afternoon. BC boasted a balanced scoring attack with 12 different Chargers scoring in the contest.

The BC offense got hot early as the Chargers shot 58.3% from the field in the first quarter while CSM shot 38.5%. Briar Cliff's defense also proved to be lively as they forced nine turnovers and only allowed 12 points. The Chargers went on a 12-4 run towards the end of the first quarter to lead 20-12.

In the second 10 minutes, the Chargers continued their efficient offensive attack shooting 47.1% compared to CSM's 30.8%. BC opened the second quarter with a 15-2 scoring run that lasted nearly eight minutes. The Charger defense forced another five turnovers, helping them expand the lead to 40-22 at the halftime break.

The Cliff went 7-of-15 (46.7%) from the field in the third quarter while CSM went 6-of-12. Briar Cliff's defense forced seven more turnovers in the third quarter while going on a 16-5 scoring run. The Chargers outscored CSM 22-13, pushing the lead to 62-35.

In the final 10 minutes, CSM made a strong push against the Chargers finishing the last five minutes on a 13-3 scoring run of their own. The Cliff's lead proved to be too large as the Chargers went on to win their 11th conference game of the season.

Briar Cliff held the advantage in points off turnovers (28-13), bench points (32-17) and points in the paint (30-22).

Madelyn Deitchler was the team's leading scorer as she posted 13 points and three rebounds.
Konnor Sudmann,
Kennedy Benne and
Payton Slaughter all recorded eight points apiece.
Rachel Langel added seven points, four rebounds and two assists while
Kaegan Held,
Madisyn Rogan and
Josie Condon all netted six points.

The Chargers hit the road Wednesday, January 28 as they travel to Fremont, Nebraska to take on Midland at 6:00 p.m.
