The Briar Cliff baseball team had seven players named to the all-GPAC teams led by Jacob Wesselmann's second-team selection. Cam Riemer, Ryan Riddle, Brett Sitzmann, Jake Allen, Mike Anthony and Dalen Blair were named honorable mentions.
Wesselmann, a senior from Remsen, Iowa, posted a 4-6 record in 10 starts with seven complete games. He had a team high 71 strikeouts to only 13 walks and held a 3.60 ERA with a .241 opponents' batting average. His best game of the season was a one-run, 13 strikeout complete game win over Presentation. He reached double-digit strikeouts twice and threw one shutout. Wesselmann became BC's career strikeout leader this season with 282 K's.
Riemer, a freshman from Sioux City, Iowa, led the Cliff in batting average, doubles, home runs, runs and RBIs. Riemer posted a .347 batting average with 13 doubles, one triple and 11 home runs. He tallied 42 RBIs and scored 41 times. Riemer had 11 multi-hit games, a .681 slugging percentage and fives contests with two or more extra-base hits. He went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, one home run and six RBIs in a win over Presentation.
Riddle, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, made 14 appearances on the mound with seven starts and had a 4-3 record. In 42.0 innings he struck out 62 batters and had a 13.29 K/9. He reached double-digit strikeouts twice. His best outing of the season was a win over Morningside where he threw 4.2 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts.
Sitzmann, a freshman from Sioux City, Iowa, pitched in 17 games for the Cliff, making one start with a 3-0 record and a team high five saves. He totaled 31.2 innings, 42 strikeouts and a 3.13 ERA. In his lone start of the season, Sitzmann threw 5.0 innings with eight strikeouts in BC's win over Concordia. He was key in the Chargers GPAC Tournament Opening Round win over Mount Marty, with a 1.1 inning save with four strikeouts.
Allen, a junior from Plaquemine, Louisiana, held a .301 batting average and tied for second on the team with 12 doubles. He had 28 RBIs, one triple and hit five home runs. Allen had a .394 on-base percentage and had 10 multi-hit games. His best game at the plate was in a win over Dakota Wesleyan when he went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs and five RBIs.
Anthony, a senior from Mesa, Arizona, recorded a .308 batting average and was a second on the team with 31 RBIs. He had a .403 on-base percentage and led the Cliff with 25 walks. Anthony tallied 14 extra-base hits with 12 doubles and two triples. Against Dakota Wesleyan, Anthony went 2-for-3 with one double, one triple and two RBIs.
Blair, a senior from Lee's Summit, Missouri, threw a team high 70.0 innings in 13 appearances with 12 starts. He had a 5-5 record and threw three complete games with a 5.27 ERA. Blair totaled 65 strikeouts to just 16 walks. He struck out over 10 batters in two games and threw two shutouts. His best performance on the mound was a dominating one-hit, nine-inning shutout over Hastings with eight strikeouts.
Doane's Joe Osborn was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports Player-of-the-Year. The Tigers' Thaniel Trumper was named pitcher-of-the-year, while Doane's Josh Oltmans is the coach-of-the-year.
