The Briar Cliff baseball team Saturday's doubleheader with Mount Marty Saturday in Yankton, South Dakota. The pitching duo of
Dalen Blair and
Brett Sitzmann led the Cliff to their 6-2 game two win.

"I continue to be impressed with the way we battle back," said head coach
Corby McGlauflin. "The conditions were tough today and we were able to get a big game two win after tough luck in game one. Dalen and Brett were tremendous and we had some big two out hits."

Game 1 – L, 0-5

The Charger bats were quiet to open the contest, with two singles through three innings. The Lancers loaded the bases with no outs in the third with three straight singles. A ground ball was hit to
Trevor Adler at shortstop, who made the throw to the plate to get the runner out at home. Mount Marty drove in a run in their next at-bat, scoring off a fielder's choice.

Jake Allen doubled in the fourth, giving the Chargers their first man in scoring position, but back-to-back outs would end the inning. The Lancers added to their lead with three runs in the fourth off four hits. Â

The Chargers had runners in scoring positions in the fifth and seventh innings but were unable to cross home plate falling 5-0.

Jacob Wesselmann is tagged with the loss after going 3.1 innings and giving up four runs with three strikeouts.
Alex Kremer threw 2.2 innings in relief and struck out two.Â

Jared Sitzmann and
Matthew Hmielewski each tallied two hits, while
Walter Hunt and Allen notched doubles.

Game 2 – W, 6-2

In his second straight outing,
Dalen Blair was dominant on the mound for the Cliff. Throwing seven strong innings, giving up five hits, no walks and striking out four. Blair allowed just one run, a solo home run in the fourth inning.Â

BC's offense was quiet through six innings, but a single from Hunt in the seventh jumpstarted the Charger hitters. BC scored five runs on five straight hits with two doubles to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Quinten Evers had an RBI double, while
Connor Lange drove in two with a double. Hmielewski and
Mike Anthony both notched RBI singles in the inning.

Brett Sitzmann took the mound in the eighth, and earned a save with his 2.0 innings of work. He gave up two hits and one run while striking out three.

Evers and Anthony both went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Lange recorded a double and tallied three RBIs.Â

BC moves to 25-16 (13-9 GPAC) and are back in Yankton, South Dakota tomorrow for the final two games of the series with the Lancers.
