The Briar Cliff men's golf team sits third after the first round of the spring portion of the GPAC Championships at the Bluffs Golf Course. The Chargers entered the day tied for second with Midland and shot the third lowest team score of the day at 302.

"We need to make our move tomorrow. We had stretches of good holes today but struggled to get it in the house," said head coach
Ben Irlbeck. "I look for the upperclassmen to carry the load and get off to a fast start."

The Warriors would fire a 292, the lowest score of the day to move into solo second place and trail the leader's Morningside by 11 strokes.

Elijah Lamoureux carried his steady play from the fall into round three, posting a 74 (+2). He was -1 through the front nine with a pair of birdies but ran into trouble at the turn. He was +4 through four back-nine holes but regrouped to play his last five holes at -1. Lamoureux is tied for seventh with a 220 (74, 72, 74).

Andrew Arndorfer carded a 75 (+3) while rolling in three birdies. He played the front-nine at +1 with a birdie and six pars and moved up 12 spots to a tie for 26th.
Desmond Landin matched Arndorfer's score with a 75 of his own. Landin tallied three total birdies on the day, with two coming on par 5's.

Mason Collins went even-par on the front-nine with two birdies. He struggled on the back-nine, going +6 to finish with a 78 (+6) and is tied for 10th.
Shaunak Rama is tied for 13th after posting a 79 (+7) in his third round and had two birdies.Â

"It's still our statistically best season on record. We need to remember that when we walk off the course," said Irlbeck. "We can hang our cap on the best season in BCU golf history."

The Chargers will be back in Vermillion, South Dakota tomorrow for the final round of the GPAC Championships.
