Four Chargers are left standing in the championship bracket after day one of the GPAC Wrestling Championships in Mitchell, South Dakota.
CaRon Watson,
Seth I'nama,
Andrew Shea and
Jeremiah Glise went undefeated on the day and have advanced to the semifinal round.
Watson won by major decision in his opening match over Elijah Barajas (Jamestown). Watson will face off with Morningside's Evan Shell in the semifinal round.
I'nama defeated Benjamin Schmitz in his only match by a 2-1 decision. I'nama will take on Daniel Vargas (Doane) in the semis.
Shea received a bye in the first round and then won by a 7-0 decision over Jesus Murillo (Jamestown) in his only match of the day to advance to the semifinals.
After having a bye in his opening round, Glise dominated his matchup against Northwestern's Kaleb Lind with an 18-2 tech fall. Glise matches up with Doane's Garrett Cornwell in the semis.
Gabriel Howard,
Maximus Barajas,
Ben Peters,
Garrett Arment,
Jake Leicht,
MJ Montgomery, and
Jonathan Garcia are in the consolation brackets and will look to wrestle back for third place finishes.
Howard received a bye in the first and fell in his first matchup of the day. He will wrestle Kavika Aholelei in his bout tomorrow. Barajas fell in the opening round and advanced by forfeit in the consoliation bracket. He will face either Baterdene Boldmaa or Edrich Nortje in his first match tomorrow.
Peters received a bye in his opening round but fell Tristan Zamilpa to move to the consolation bracket. He responsed with a17-0 tech fall over Tommy Klemesrud. Peters will matchup with Riley Dement (Hastings) in his first-round tomorrow. Arment dropped his opening bout but came back with a pin over Anthony Perez (Concordia) in his next match. He will face Tyson Johnson (Dakota Wesleyan) in his first bout tomorrow.
Leicht fell in the second round and in his first consolation match, he won by major decision over Caleb Watson (Midland) and will next face Cole Halouska (Dakota Wesleyan). In his only match of the day, Montgomery fell to Joshua Goeden (Jamestown) and matches up with Hunter Planasky (Dakota Wesleyan). Garcia fell in sudden victory to Hunter DeJong (Midland) in his only match and meets Evan Morara (Hastings) in the consoliation bracket.
