The Briar Cliff women's basketball took control early in Saturday's contest against Avila and cruised to an 85-44 victory. The Chargers improve to 10-4 on the season and are 6-2 in GPAC play.

The Chargers were dominant in the opening two quarters, outscoring the Eagles 26-5 in period one and 20-9 in the second quarter. BC tallied six steals, with four courtesy of
Payton Slaughter, in the first quarter and scored 16 points off 10 Avila turnovers. Briar Cliff had four players score five or more points in the first 10 minutes.

Briar Cliff held the Eagles to 4-of-16 shooting and 1-of-8 from deep in the second quarter and controlled the rebounding battle 14-7.
Konnor Sudmann and
Madelyn Deitchler scored 13 and 12 points, respectively to pace the Cliff to a 46-14 first half lead.

13 different Chargers recorded points in the win, while seven tallied a steal.
Rachel Langel added 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench, while
Maliah Kleinhesselink scored 10.

Briar Cliff had the advantage in points off turnovers (31-12), second chance points (20-6), bench points (43-26) and points in the paint (46-30).

The Blue and Gold return to the GPAC play Wednesday when the team travels to Mitchell, South Dakota to face Dakota Wesleyan.
