Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

CHARGERS FALL IN FOUR AT DOANE

After setting a season high hitting percentage in last night's contest, the Briar Cliff volleyball team struggled to find their rhythm in a 1-3 loss to Doane Saturday.

"Our performance on the offensive end was disappointing after producing so well yesterday," said head coach Lindsey Weatherford. "One bright spot was Chloe Johnson, who was able to terminate the ball in key scenarios that helped us score points."

Chloe Johnson paced the Cliff with 15 kills, 20 digs, four aces and a .255 hitting percentage

BC fell behind in set one 5-11 after a pair of Tiger runs, but would answer with a 6-1 run of their own to pull within one point. Chloe Johnson put down two kills, while Tannah Heath had one service ace and three assists. Doane took set one after outscoring the Chargers 12-4 in the back half of the set.

The Blue and Gold started quick in set two taking a 6-3 lead after a Tiger error. However, Doane would take control of the set after a long scoring run. The Cliff battled back to a 17-21 score, but fell in set two 18-25.

Trailing by six late in the third set, the Chargers battled back to take a 21-20 lead. BC rattled off four straight points to take the one point edge after two straight kills from Olivia Petersen followed by a Heath ace. Chloe Johnson ended the set with a kill off a Heath assist.

Briar Cliff found themselves behind early in the final set, but responded with a five-point swing to tie it at 13-13. However, another long Tigers scoring run all but put away the four-set win.

Once we were able to get Toria going today, she was a force at the net for us in the last three sets," noted Weatherford. "Our defense was scrappy today and Tannah and Abbey were able to dig balls effectively, which is something we have been working to improve all season."

Toria Andre put down nine kills and had four blocks, while Wasmund had seven kills and five blocks. Heath totaled 37 assists, 18 digs and two aces. Olivia Petersen had five blocks, while Abbey Joney had 16 digs.

The Chargers head to Mayville, North Dakota Monday night for a nonconference matchup with Mayville State at 5:30 p.m.
