Briar Cliff wrestling competed at the Central Under Armour Invitational Saturday in Pella, Iowa. The day was highlighted by a second-place finish from
Jeremiah Glise at 184-lbs and third-place finishes from
Jackson Shea and
Ethan Krey at 133 and 141-lbs.

Glise started his tournament with a fall at the 4:56 mark over Central's Austin Roos. He then cruised in the semifinal match with a major decision over Cooper Stigsell of Central. In the championship bout, Glise fell to NIACC's Chase McCleish by a 8-4 decision.Â

Shea advanced to the semfinal round after picking up a 7-3 decision over Chase Poston (Central) and a 5-1 win over Ty Broussard (Iowa Wesleyan). Shea lost by fall to Taylor Vasquez (Morningside) in the semifinals and won by medical forfeit in his third-place match.Â

In his opening round match, Krey won by fall at the one-minute mark over Luke Krier (Wisconsin-Eau Claire). He then took a 3-1 overtime win over Brock Beck (Central) but fell to Axel Hernandez 5-3 in the semifinals. Krey rebounded in his third-place match with a 8-2 decision over Tyler Okada (Waldorf).Â

MJ Montgomery took a 6-4 win over Joshua Piechowski (Minnesota State Mankato) and followed that up with a 5-1 decision over Izaiah Ieramia (Waldorf). Montgomery fell in back-to-back matches and placed fourth at 197-lbs.  Â
