The RV Briar Cliff wrestling went 2-0 on the second day of the GPAC duals with convincing wins over #13 Hastings and RV Concordia. BC closes the conference season tied for second with Morningside with a GPAC dual record of 6-2.
Seth I'nama took a 6-3 sudden victory win over Isaac Agabin at 125-lb. The Bulldogs' #15 Mario Ybarra took the 133-lb. bout over
Gabriel Howard 6-2.
The Chargers responded by winning the next three weight classes.
Maximus Barajas won by major decision 11-1 over Adam Roberts.
Andrew Shea took a 5-3 decision over Jeaven Scdoris.
Ben Peters capped off the run with a pin (6:06) over Tavoris Smith. Concordia took the 165-lb. and 174-lb. bouts by 8-4 and 4-3 decisions, respectively.
Jeremiah Glise and
MJ Montgomery responded for the Cliff with back-to-back pins. Glise won in 2:36 over Hunter Weimer, while Montgomery pinned Isaac Renas in 4:04. At heavyweight, the Bulldogs' Jacob Telles won by sudden victory over
Alton Allen 3-1. The Chargers took the 28-12 win over the Bulldogs.
Against the Broncos, I'nama won by forfeit at 125-lb. Howard won by a 12-2 major decision over Andy Rojas at 133. Barajas followed Howard's big win with an 8-4 upset over #6 Edrich Nortje. BC took 149 and 157 by forfeits.
Hastings won at 165 and 174-lb. wth an 18-3 tech fall and 13-3 major decision.
Jeremiah Glise won by forfeit at 184 and
Jonathan Garcia and Allen took 5-2 and 4-1 wins at 197 and 285, respectively.
The Chargers return to the mat next Saturday at the Dave Edmonds Open in Sioux City, Iowa.
