The Briar Cliff wrestling team competed in day two of the Missouri Valley Invite Saturday in Marshall, Missouri. The Chargers finished 15th out of 38 teams with 58.0 team points and finished the second highest among GPAC schools behind Hastings.

"The Missouri Valley Invite is one of the premier NAIA Wrestling events of the year," said head coach Joe Privitere. "Forty or so of the best teams from across the country give us a good look at where we stand and what we have to work on. I was happy with the guys effort this weekend and look forward to getting back to work Monday."
 
CaRon Watson, the #9 ranked wrestler at 125-lb., faced off with #13 Riley Siason of Menlo in the semifinal round to open his day. Watson fell by a 3-2 decision and moved to the consolation bracket. He responded with a 5-1 decision over #17 Brayden Bradley (Missouri Valley) to advance to the third-place match. Watson fell 9-3 in his final bout against #10 Johnaton Ortegon (Wayland Baptist) to finish fourth. 
 
In the 133-lb. consolation bracket, Gabriel Howard took an 8-5 win over Cameron Henderson (Campbellsville). He would drop his next match against Nick Kunz (Montana State) 3-1, and then lost his seventh-place matchup 5-4 against #10 Taylor Vasquez (Morningside).
 
MJ Montgomery opened day two with an 8-2 win over Joshua Goeden (Jamestown), before falling 5-1 to Tony Rogers (Life). In the seventh-place bout, Montgomery fell 4-3 to Trillyon Fils-Aime (Southeastern). 
 
Seth I'nama lost by tech fall 20-5 to Ortegon in his only match of the day. Jeremiah Glise won by forfeit but fell in his next match 14-7 against Brett Bober (Baker).

The Chargers will now prepare for the second portion of the GPAC Duals where they will face Concordia and Hastings on Saturday.
