The Charger wrestling team faced tough competition in day one of the Missouri Valley Invite in Marshall, Missouri. The day was highlighted by CaRon Watson who won all three of his matches and is in the semifinals of the 125-lb. bracket.
 
Watson, the #9 ranked wrestler in the NAIA, won by tech fall 20-2 in his matchup with Deven Altenburg of Providence. In his next round, Watson took a 5-2 decision over Oklahoma City's Casey Goss. He closed out his night with a 5-2 decision over Devaughn Sapien of Cumberlands. Watson will face #13 Riley Siason of Menlo in the semifinal round.
 
At the 197-lb. weight class, MJ Montgomery took a 3-1 decision over Southeastern's Trillyon Fils-Aime and followed that up with an 11-4 win over Joshua Wilson from Wayland Baptist. Montgomery dropped his quarterfinal match 3-1 to Morningside's Hunter DeJong, whos is ranked #15 in the NAIA. Montgomery matches up against Joshua Goeden from Jamestown in his first matchup Saturday. 
 
Gabriel Howard won his first match at 133-lb. 10-0 over Cleary's Logan Ladach, but fell in the quarterfinals to Campbellsville's Zeke Escalera. 
 
Seth I'nama (125-lb.) and Jeremiah Glise (184-lb.) are in the consolation bracket and will compete for a third-place finish Saturday.
