A hot start for the Briar Cliff men's golf team at the Oklahoma City University Invite had the Chargers on pace for an upper tier finish, but a few cold stretches dropped the team to 10th after 36 holes Monday. The Chargers were +2 and in seventh place after the first round of competition and shot eight strokes worse in round two, dropping the squad to 10th heading into the final day.

Shaunak Rama's first 18 holes wrapped up at a four-under-par 67. He tallied six birdies in the first round and was tied for fourth place. Rama carded a +1 score in the second round, leaving him -3 on the day and in a tie for 11th looking into the final 18 holes.Â

"We had some hot and cold stretches today," said head coach
Ben Irlbeck. "36 holes is a marathon day that lasts about 10 hours. With only 18 holes tomorrow we need to start fast and make up ground on a couple teams ahead while not discounting the teams nipping our heels. Erik and I look for a low round from one of the top returners and continued steady play from Mason, who kept it consistent all day."

Freshman
Mason Collins was the second best BC golfer of the day. He was consistent across both rounds, shooting a 73 (+2) and a 71 (E). He had five birdies in his first 36 holes as a Charger.
Elijah Lamoureux also improved from round one to round two. The senior was +3 after the first 18 holes with three birdies and posted a +1 second round with three more birdies.Â
Â
Andrew Arndorfer carded an eagle on his fourth hole of the morning and rounded out his first 18 holes at +1 and tied for 38th. The sophomore was on pace for a strong second round but ended up with a +6 scorecard in round two for a +7 overall day.Â
Â
The Chargers will return to the course Tuesday for the final 18 holes.Â
