Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hill scores late game winner against #15 Baker

The Briar Cliff women's soccer team picked up right where they left off Saturday, starting the spring portion of the 2020-21 season with a 1-0 win over #15 Baker in Baldwin, Kansas. The Chargers, ranked #22 in the NAIA, move to 11-1-2 overall.

Taylor Hill slotted home the game winner for the Cliff in the 85th minute off a cross. Hill, a first-team all-GPAC pick this fall, scored her fifth goal of the season.

Head coach Clark Charlestin picks up his first win as the leader of the Charger team.

"It is never easy to play against Baker, they are very organized and made it difficult for us today," said Charlestin. "We executed our game plan and we are extremely pleased with this performance."

Ruby Campa, another first-team all-conference pick, made two saves in the win. Hannah Shuttleworth led the Chargers with two shots.

Baker is now 10-3-1 this season. Vanessa Silva made one save and allowed one goal. Kendall Staley took three shots.

The Wildcats had a 7-5 advantage in shots. Briar Cliff took seven corner kicks compared to three by Baker. The Chargers committed 15 fouls and the Wildcats had 10.

BC will return to Sioux City for an exhibition game against Northern State next weekend. The team will then host Dordt in the opening round of the GPAC Postseason Tournament April 3.
