Briar Cliff opened the 2021 campaign in Goddard, Kansas Sunday with a double-header against Culver-Stockton. The Cliff jumped out to an early lead in game one winning 13-5, and
Mike Anthony walked off in game two to give BC a 7-6 victory.

Corby McGlauflin. "I am really proud of the way the guys battled through adversity today and fought to the very end. We will enjoy these wins tonight and look forward to getting back after it tomorrow!"

The Wildcats struck first in the top of the first, but BC responded in the bottom of the inning with four runs. After giving up a first inning run,
Jacob Wesselmann settled in pitching a 1-2-3 second inning with two strikeouts. The Chargers put up three more runs in bottom of the second to extend their lead to 7-1. BC added insurance runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings highlighted by a two-run home run from
Harrison Jestel.

Wesselmann picked up the win allowing four runs in his six innings of work and struck out six batters.
Jake Federico had three hits, three runs and two RBIs.
Dawson Forcella tallied three RBIs and
Jared Sitzmann legged out a triple.

The Chargers bats went cold to start game two, as the Wildcats took a 6-0 lead through five innings. In the bottom of the sixth
Darnell Prince doubled off a deep fly ball to center field, and
Connor Lange reached base after being hit by a pitch. With runners on first and second, Forcella doubled scoring Prince and Lange. BC put up two more runs in the inning to cut the Wildcat lead to 6-4.

In the top of the seventh BC pitcher
Kyler Steinborn was able to escape the inning without giving up a run, leaving two Wildcat players on base. Jestel led off the bottom of the seventh with an infield hit, followed by a Prince single. The Chargers trailed by one after Jestel scored on a Lange infield single. With runners on first and second
Mike Anthony hit a line drive to left field that scored Prince and the game winning run
Jake Hubbard.

Nicholas Cole started on the mound for the Chargers in game two. He went 3.0 innings allowing six runs and struck out four batters.
Kyler Steinborn was the winning pitcher, throwing 2.2 innings out of the bullpen allowing zero runs with four strikeouts.

Anthony was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two walks. Forcella recorded two RBIs and
Darnell Prince crossed home plate twice.

The Chargers are back in action tomorrow with another doubleheader with Culver-Stockton. Game one is set for 11 a.m.
