The Briar Cliff women's volleyball team dropped in straight sets at Northwestern Wednesday (25-17, 25-14, 25-12).
The Chargers held an early lead in set one, 7-5 after
Sami Wasmund held serve for five straight points. With the score tied at 12-12 the Red Raiders gained control of the set, outscoring BC 13-5 to close out the set win.
Set two was similar to the first, as the Chargers battled early trailing by just one point 12-11. A 13-2 Northwestern run closed out the second set. The Red Raiders closed out the match in the third set by a score of 25-12.

Toria Andre,
Taryn Nothem and
Sami Wasmund all contributed four kills apiece. Andre tallied four blocks and Ericson had three. Madillyn Wagaman and Maureen each dished out nine assists.
Jo Sadler led the team with 11 digs.
"Northwestern is a very fundamentally sound team and are a tough team to play on the road," said head coach
Lindsey Weatherford. "We dug more balls in the back row of of kill attempts tonight than we have yet this season. Seeing our defense make great moves will help as we move forward. Sadler continues to be in the right place and make the right plays on defense."
The Blue and Gold travel to York, Nebraska Friday for a 6:00 p.m. match against York College.
