It was Déjà vu in Storm Lake, IA for the second round of the Buena Vista Invite for the Charger men's golf team. The final round action mirrored that of the first, right down to the misty rain that fell throughout the day.
The team finished second place overall with a team score of 603. The 301 on day one was followed with a 302 on day two.
Two players medaled for the Chargers -- Senior Captain,
Elijah Lamoureux had a two-day total of 149 (75, 74) to finish third and Freshman
Gregorio Fernandez tied for fourth with a score of 150 (74-76).
Mason Collins finished three strokes better the second day with a 74 (151) and a seventh-place finish.
Desmond Landin shot 78 (153) and
Davess Verdugo 80 (158) to round out the top 5 scoring.
Individually,
Hugo Perez Dorsey had one of the best overall rounds of the day carding a 73 (165).
Braxton Brockhaus turned in an 80, putting him at 160 for the event. And
Gunnar Bussinger finished 19th with an overall score of 182 (84-98).
Nebraska Wesleyan won the team trophy with a two day score of 590 (299 – 291), with their top scorer taking home the medalist honor with a score of 146 (75-71).
Next up for the Chargers is their final event for the fall season, the Northwest Iowa Intercollegiate, co-hosted by Iowa Lakes CC and Briar Cliff. The two day tournament is held at Spencer Country Club in Spencer, IA Oct. 11 – 12.
