Briar Cliff volleyball fell in three to the sixth ranked Midland Warriors Saturday night in the Newman Flanagan Center.
"Midland is a strong team with excellent leadership," said head coach
Lindsey Weatherford. "I'm very proud of the way we came out and worked hard to stay with them in set 1."
The Cliff battled in set one, trailing 13-11 at the midway point but a 7-2 run would give the Warriors a comfortable lead. The Chargers pulled to within four points, but three straight points from Midland closed out set one 25-19.
The Warriors jumped out to a 9-2 lead in set two and cruised to a 25-11 second set win. The Cliff stayed close in set three, trailing by just two before five straight Midland points gave them a 17-10 lead. A kill from Brooke Fredrickson closed out the Warrior 3-0 sweep.
"Chloe was a great contributor for us on the night," said Weatherford. "Sami continues to be consistent with her strong net play, and Tyra is really coming on strong for us down the stretch."
Sami Wasmund,
Tyra Blue and
Chloe Johnson led the Chargers with five kills apiece.
Toria Andre put down four kills and had four blocks.
Madilyn Wagaman,
Tannah Heath and
Jo Sadler each had seven digs.
Maureen Imrie dished out 11 assists and Wagaman added nine.
BC returns to the Newman Flanagan Center Tuesday for a matchup with Northwestern at 7:30 p.m.
