The Briar Cliff wrestling team put together a dominant night on the mat Wednesday with a 55-0 win over the Midwald Warriors in Fremont, Nebraska. BC used four pins to help themselves to the shutout victory. 
 
Ben Peters got the matches started for Briar Cliff at 157-lbs. The redshirt junior, ranked third in the GPAC at 157, won by tech fall (16-0) over Antonio Rinn.
 
The Chargers then got three-straight pins from Chris Paulsen (165), Jonathan Sutter (174) and Jake Leicht (184) to push their lead to 23-0. 
 
Paulsen is ranked first in the GPAC and 12th in the NAIA as of the latest poll. He beat Chase Engelhardt in 2:36. Sutter's win over Jeshua Castillo came in 5:30 and Leicht upset Connor Rinn in 2:33. Leicht is unranked in the GPAC at this point in the year while Rinn sits ranked fourth.
 
Caleb Shanks picked up an 11-0 major decision over Kolton Kammeyer. Shanks is considered the best GPAC wrestler at 197 and is also ranked 12th nationally. 
 
At 125, CaRon Watson (ranked 15th) won by fall over Eddie Daniel in 3:59 and Maximus Barajas rounded out the wrestling with a 9-1 major decision over Conner Dalton at 141.
 
Matt Wilke (285), Gabriel Howard (133) and Jackson Shea (149) all won by forfeit. 
 
"We are happy with how the guys performed today," said head coach Joe Privitere. "We haven't competed since before Thanksgiving so I didn't know what kind of an impact that would have; however, the guys were in great shape and looked hungry. I'm looking forward to seeing what this group can accomplish the rest of the way."
 
The Chargers move to 3-0 in dual action this season. The team will host its final home dual of the year January 13 against Morningside at the Newman Flanagan Center
 
 Before hosting the Mustangs, BC will travel to the Hastings College Open Saturday in Hastings, Nebraska.
