The Charger men's golf team started the 2020 spring season with a sixth place finish at the Bethany College Spring Invite Tuesday. The event began Monday at Turkey Run Golf Course, but when play was suspended after nine holes due to inclement weather, the teams played the remaining 27 holes Tuesday to complete the 36-hole competition.
BC put together a 628 (+29) team score, 30 strokes off the Garden City Community College team, the tournament winners.
Connor Christiansen was the best golfer for the Cliff, finishing in 11th place out of 36 athletes. The senior shot a 78 over the first 18 holes and 74 on the final 18 for a 152, just one stroke off a tie for eighth place.Â
Desmond Landin carded the next best score for the Chargers. The freshman's 157 put him in a tie for 20th place at the end of the day and
Elijah Lamoureux was two shots back at 159 and tied for 25th.
Federico Acosta (163) and
Andres Casal (172) rounded out the scoring for Briar Cliff.
The team will return to action March 23 and 24 at the MVC Spring Invite at the Indian Foothills Golf Club in Marshall, Missouri.
