The Briar Cliff women's soccer team were dominant again Wednesday beating College of Saint Mary 5-0 at Faber Field. BC moves to 4-0-1 on the season and 4-0 in GPAC play.
"I thought today was our best performance of the season to date," said head coach
Paul Cox.
Bailee Hackley got the scoring started early for the Cliff as she put one through the back of the net in the 5th minute unassisted.
Flor Suarez netted her seventh goal of the season in the 33rd minute off an assist from
Gisselle Jimenez.
Mariana Ocegueda added an unassisted goal with two minutes left in the first half to give the Chargers a 3-0 lead at the break.
In the 61st minute Jimenez was able to beat the goalkeeper off an assist from Ocegueda. Freshman
Hannah Shuttleworth scored her first career goal for the Blue and Gold, assisted by Hackley in the 72nd minute.
Ruby Campa played all 90 minutes in net for the Chargers making two saves. The Charger defense has been a brick wall thus far allowing only one goal in the team's five games.
As a team BC outshot the Flames 24-5 and 12-2 shots on goal. The Chargers also held the advantage in corner kicks 7-1 and committed less fouls 4-6.
"We could have been more clinical but to get five goals from five different scorers shows how well rounded we are as a team," said Cox. "It was three points we didn't get last season so that's very encouraging."
The Chargers will look for win number five Saturday as they travel to Aberdeen, SD to face off against Presentation. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
